HELLO, fellow FGCOA, GALAXIELAND, and other Chapter members,

OUR next GALAXIELAND chapter meet, will actually, be a FALL meet, but.. a ROAD TRIP meet. The road trip is based on the idea that the TRIP to the 2007 GALAXIE NATIONALS, AND back, should be as important, and ENJOYABLE, as the nationals themselves. This road trip meet, is for anyone in the chapter, or ANY FGCOA member, that wishes to attend the 10th ANNUAL GALAXIE NATIONALS, in Dawsonville, Ga. Instead of parking for two days, in a park, or swap meet somewhere, this would allow members of the chapter, to travel  for severals hours on a trip, together. With the 2007 Galaxie Nationals event being held on OCTOBER 26-28TH, this event, being held in the fall, means a lot of beauty on the highway, particularly, in North Georgia, with the changing of the leaves, and brisk air. We will be departing central Florida, on Thursday, October 25th, some time, after noon. Our departing time, will place us in DOUGLAS, Georgia, for prime time, and to dine and relax. The overnight stay will be at the HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS, in Douglas, which is only 3 months old. The place still SMELLS new, and with very comfortable, pillow top beds, it is a PERFECT place to call it a day, on the road. The FREE breakfast is great, and with a 9 AM or so departure, we will be arriving in the Dawsonville, Dalonegha area, approximately around 1 PM, on Friday, Oct. 27th. This will leave plenty of time to shop, or browse the beautifully fall decorated, streets, in Dalonegha, on Friday, and dine at the famous SMITH HOUSE, on Friday evening, as the nationals banquet is planned by the Atlanta Galaxies Chapter on Saturday evening, in Dawsonville. Our departing time for the return trip to central Florida, will be on Monday, Oct. 29th, around 9 AM.. arriving around 7 PM to most any CENTRAL Florida destination. We WILL have a chase trailer, to transport any one with a major mechanical misfortune, to get them back home. Any minor issues,  will be  addressed, on the road. HOPEFULLY, there will be none. If you are interested in departing with us, traveling with us as a group,  or even meeting with us in Douglas, or somewhere else of the road, please let us know. Please email us at www.galaxieland@msn.com and I will pass along my cell phone number as well. The planned trip, starting from WILDWOOD, Florida, will only be 20 minutes of interstate travel. We will, for the saftey of the group, and concern and care for the vehicles, will be traveling north, up U.S. 27 from I-75, at Ocala, to Williston, then north, on U.S. 41, to High Springs, then north, on Historic U.S. 441, all the way to Gainesville, GEORGIA. This route is NOT out of the way, and there is NO time lost to the interstate travel route through Atlanta, and cutting across. For more details of the trip, and what you will see on the road trip, please click on the HERITAGE 441 tab, of this web page. We, in GALAXIELAND, hope that you will join us, on this breath taking adventure. I personally, have made this trip twice, in the last 3 weeks, and it is WELL worth it.

Sincerely,        Wayne Haynes,  Galaxieland Director............

*********HEAVY CONSTUCTION ON THE ATLANTA BYPASS******

Upon returning from CONN. this past week to pick up a car, I was on US 441 this past Wednesday. At Athens Ga, I made a detour, over to ROSWELL, Ga, which is northwest of Atlanta, actually an Atlanta suburb. Of course, it was part of a Galaxie mission, Anyway, I took I-85 over to JIMMY CARTER BLVD. to my destination, and upon returning to my route back to Fla. ...the EAST coast, my overnight stop was Millegeville, Ga. back over on US 441. This required leaving Roswell, traveling south, on I-75, down to I-2O, towards Augusta. The construction is AWEFUL..... and DANGEROUS.. I was driving a rollback tow truck, pulling a car trailer...and it was at !0 30 at NIGHT!!!...it might be safe around 2-4 AM.... If you are headed north, out of Florida.... going to Dawsonvile, in 2 weeks, especially pulling a trailer, you are crazy. There is NO WAY... I would take a group of cars, through there, with those idiots! This is just a pre warning...to BE CAREFULL!!!!!!!!!
